Injury Prevention Meeting Held at NUMC

Medical center is looking to partner with local orgs to help prevent "senseless injuries" from coming into its Trauma Room.

A meeting on injury prevention was recently held at Nassau University Medical Center.

Marvin Berg, injury prevention and outreach coordinator, invited members of the community active and involved in various programs on injury prevention, such as teen driving programs and pediatrics/child/teen safety to attend.

The medical center is looking to partner with them so that NUMC can get more involved in programs to help prevent many senseless injuries from coming into its Trauma Room, such as teen texting/distracted driving/alcohol use and bicycle safety.

Among those in attendance: Sara Cardozo-Stolberg, Trauma Program manager, NUMC; Cynthia Brown, executive director, New York Coalition for Transportation Safety; Danielle P. Rella, program specialist, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD); Marvin Berg, RN, injury prevention coordinator, NUMC; Antonia Gavan, RN, NUMC; Timothy Hearty, trauma performance improvement coordinator; Lucy I. Weinstein, MD, MPH, director, injury prevention, Winthrop-University Hospital; and Wendy Tepfer, director, Community Parent Center.
