First Annual Oktoberfest to Be Held in East Meadow

The event will take place in Eisenhower Park on Saturday and Sunday.

Nassau County will host its First Annual Oktoberfest Celebration in Eisenhower Park this weekend.

“Nassau County’s First Annual Oktoberfest Celebration is a wonderful opportunity to bring families together for a weekend of great culture, food and drink and plenty of activities for the whole family," County Executive Edward Mangano said.

Residents will be able to enjoy traditional German food, beer, tractor rides, a pumpkin maze, vendors, and more. There will also be live performances from Mystic and The Legendary Murphys.

"Come on down to Eisenhower Park and enjoy all that Nassau County has to offer," Mangano said.

Oktoberfest will take place at Eisenhower Park on Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The first Annual Oktoberfest at Eisenhower Park was very nice and the kids loved it!!! There was free hay rides and facepainting, short lines, a great band (the Mystic) and good food, although the line was too long for me to wait for a Bratwurst. Then we walked over to the new park and it was really beautiful. I think it was built for handicapped children or kids with physical challenges, but all could play on it. A fun day for all!!! The ONLY gripe was bees, bees and more bees near the food court.

Unfortunately Dover Catering is tied up with the County. They have no food vendor competition so we are limited to what they serve. In spite all of that the food was OK but I agree there should be a more variety of German food.

I am probably going this afternoon (Sunday) - Unfortunately it is raining, but I still plan to check it out anyway. I hope it turns out to be a worthwhile event for Nassau County. The next Oktoberfest I'm aware of is on 10/27 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City. Hopefully weather will be nice for that.
