Pre-Registration for Summer Swimming Lessons

Interested in having your child participate in summer swimming at the Veterans Memorial Park pool?

Pre-registration for season pass holders for the first session of swim classes will be held at the park on Jun. 11 and Jun. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all levels except guppies (which requires registration on the first day of class - either Jul. 8 or Jul. 9). Regular registration begins on Jun. 20 at 6:30 p.m. The first swim session runs from Jun. 22 to Jul. 19, with lifeguard training ending on Aug. 10 or Aug. 11.

Class levels are as follows:

  • Guppies: Water Orientation, for ages 4 and 5 (parents must participate, too)
  • Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
  • Level 3: Stroke Development
  • Level 4: Stroke Development
  • Level 5: Stroke Refinement
  • Level 6: Advanced Stroke and Skills
  • Guard Start, for ages 11 to 14
  • Lifeguard Training, for ages 15 and up

Participants must be at least six year old as of Dec. 1, 2011 and a resident of the Town of Hempstead. All classes meet twice per week and participants must hold pool membership or they have to pay admission fee upon each entry. Proof of age and residency required.

  • $53 for adult (senior/veterans are $26.50)
  • $48.50 for children (levels 4, 5, 6 and Guard Start)
  • $67 for lifeguard training
  • No fee for guppies and Levels 2 & 3
