Helen Comerford, of East Meadow was recently honored at the Salvation Army’s 32nd Annual Salute to Volunteers held in Westbury.
Comerford received the honor as well as a certificate of recognition by the Town of Hempstead on her 80th birthday.
The annual celebration is hosted to recognize and express appreciation to groups and individuals who help The Salvation Army accomplish its mission to "preach the gospel and to meet human needs without discrimination."

Work for the 8:00 AM opening begins early in the morning.…Read More The grounds at Speno Memorial Park were waterlogged, which could have resulted in slipping hazards and extensive property damage. If it's any consolation, we're as sorry about the cancellation as the people who would have attended the event.
