East Meadow Whiz Kid: Elisa Chang

New feature will honor the top students in the East Meadow community.

This week's Whiz Kid is Clarke student, Elisa Chang!

  • Name: Elisa Chang
  • Age: 15
  • School:
  • Accomplishment: Elisa participated in the Green Teens program held at the Long Island Children’s Museum throughout the summer. The summer program utilizes the service-learning model combining meaningful community service with a deeper level of instruction to produce an enriched learning experience for the teens. Elisa worked with fellow high school students to develop and teach interactive nature and environmental education programs for Museum visitors. The eight-week program was sponsored by National Grid.
  • Key to Awesomeness: Very creative and artistic. She helped develop and execute the programs with a lot of enthusiasm which showed through with her interaction with the children. She was also very instrumental with designing signs to promote our activities in the garden.

Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local soccer team take the
championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kid honoree.

Each week, East Meadow Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid.
