East Meadow Prepares for Hurricane Sandy

Residents said that they are getting ready for the storm.

With Sandy and her way, East Meadow residents are taking precautions to stay safe.

East Meadow Patch asked residents on Facebook what they are doing to prepare for the storm.

"We have our canned goods, snacks, full tank of gas, books and board games," Janet Den Bleyker said. "We are set!"

Kristin Pappas said that she too is fully prepared. Her electronics are fully charged, she has necessities such as milk and water and her books and games to keep her entertained are not too far behind.

She said that living in East Meadow has advantages.

"Living in mid-island East Meadow does have its pluses," she said. "In 35 years my basement has never seen rainwater."

Fran Vespoli said that she tried to buy gas on Sunday for her Monday morning commute, but came up empty-handed.

"None left in town except for the 24 cents I got before it shut off," she said. "I wasn't panicking. I just need it to get to work! My company never closes."
