East Meadow Man Creates Sports Support Bra for Breast Cancer Research

Andrew "Mookie" Alderman took part in Adelphi University Creative Cups Fundraiser.

Andrew "Mookie" Alderman, an East Meadow resident, created a "Pro Sports Support Bra" for the Adelphi University Creative Cups Fundraiser. Alderman had professional athletes sign his creation to show that they have been affected by the disease and that they show a great support to research, treatment and care.

The bra, a padded 36C bra that is decorated with pink ribbons and sports knik-knacks, is covered by a Creative Cups T-shirt that was given to Alderman six years ago. Alderman used the shirt to visit the athletes and to collect signatures on it.

Athletes such as Bobby Nystrom, Dustin Keller, Darryl Strawberry, Brian Trottier, Mickey Rivers, Matt Serra, Nicky Polanco, Sean Landeta, John Orson, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Brutus "The Barber"Beefcake  autographed the shirt.

"I played NCAA lacrosse at Adelphi University a few years ago and my number was zero," Alderman said. "It was a very important number to me and still is . It is my hope and dream to see that number as the one that marks the time when zero people have cancer. I support this event and others like it eagerly and hope to do so, until my dream comes true."
