East Meadow Woman Earns Hispanic Heritage Month Award

Virginia Velazquez Kawochka of East Meadow was presented the award by the Town of Hempstead.

Virginia Velazquez Kawochka of East Meadow was recently awarded the 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month Award by the Town of Hempstead.

Velazquez Kawochka, an administrator of the law firm Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn and Terrana, was recognized for always going "above and beyond" her role by assisting the firm’s marketing and contributions committees and by participating in the firm’s volunteer and philanthropic efforts.

In 2009, Velazquez Kawochka spearheaded a project to attain environmental sustainability in the construction of the company’s new headquarters in Uniondale.

She has also helped guide members of Long Island’s immigration population through the process of legalization as a translator.
