COBA Hosts Holiday Party for Kids Affected By Sandy

A group of 100 people attended the event.

Nassau County Sheriff’s Correction Officers Benevolent Association (COBA) recently hosted a holiday party in Oceanside for Long Beach families and children who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“The Oceanside holiday party brought much joy to the children and their families struggling with the affects Hurricane Sandy has had on their lives," Greg Lanning, a delegate with COBA and an Oceanside Knight of Columbus member said.

The organization held a toy drive for the party in December to help replace gifts, collected by the Knights of Columbus of Long Beach, that were damaged in a fire at the organization's council building on Dec. 9.

A group of 100 children and adults enjoyed a day of fun, food, games, face painting and gifts. Santa also made a special appearance to spread some holiday cheer.

"Seeing the boys and girls happy, smiling and enjoying the party and gifts was most gratifying for everyone involved in this charitable event," Lanning said.
