  • Woman Robbed, Stabbed at Wal-Mart: According to Nassau County police, a woman was loading packages into her car in the Walmart parking lot when a man took her pocketbook and stabbed her in the left arm with an unknown object on Nov. 19.
  • East Meadow Liquor Store Robbed on Friday: Patel S Wines & Liquors on N. Jerusalem Road was robbed Nov. 1. Cops said a white man described as six-foot-one inches and 220 pounds walked in and demanded cash. A woman employee, who was there with her 3-year-old daughter, ran out of the store while the man went behind the counter and took money out of the register.
  • Judge: Diner Owners Must Pay $338K to Underpaid Employees: A judge ordered the owners of East Meadow's Colony Diner to pay $338,000 to dozens of employees they intentionally underpaid and fork up more than $60,000 in back taxes and fines. Judge Valarie Alexander sentenced cousins Tassos (Thomas) Strifas, of Merrick, and George Strifas, of East Hills, to a three-year conditional discharge on condition of payment of full restitution to the victims totaling approximately $338,000, plus back taxes and fines worth approximately $64,000. An additional $164,000 in liquidated damages will be paid to Colony Diner employees pursuant to a federal court order from January of this year.
