Man Drowns in East Meadow Pool: A 26-year-old man was found dead in an East Meadow pool July 16. The victim, who's name is being held pending family notification, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) after police were called to the School Street home at 2:15 p.m. He was pronounced deceased at 3:15 p.m. 

Woman Assaulted in Speno Park: A woman was sexually assaulted in Speno Park July 14 at approximately 3 a.m. The park was closed at the time of the incident.

EM Man, His Alleged Dealer Busted on Drug Charges: Nassau police arrested an East Meadow man and his alleged drug dealer in front of a N. Jerusalem Rd. restaurant July 21 and 22.

New Bakery to Open in East Meadow: A new bakery is coming to East Meadow this month. Bread Box Bakery Cafe will open in the former Bagel Bakery building at 500 Newbridge Road, which has been vacant for about a year. The family-owned business will be operated by mother and son, Deborah and Andrew Benoit of Deer Park.

Cops: Mom Leaves Kids in Car, Attempts to Fill Phony Prescription: A Queens woman left her young children in the car and attempted to fill a forged prescription for Percocet at an East Meadow pharmacy July 3, according to Nassau Police. Detectives report that Cheryl Ann Shearer, 33, of Bayside was denied the prescription from Walgreens at 2474 Hempstead Turnpike. Police responded and during the investigation it was revealed that Shearer had left her two male children, an 8-year-old and a 10-week-old, in her car unattended, while inside the pharmacy. 

Police Search For Robbery Suspect in East Meadow: Two 17-year-old females were robbed July 15. According to police, the two victims were walking on Jeffrey Avenue around 1:08 a.m. when they were approached by a Hispanic man with slicked back dark hair. The suspect demanded their pocketbooks and their cell phones. The victims complied after the suspect threatened to stab them, police said. 

Sweet Karma Closes in East MeadowSweet Karma, which had been on East Meadow Avenue for 10 years, closed its doors and has relocated to 136 Manetto Hill Road in Plainview in July. Jen, an employee at Sweet Karma, said that the business moved to a more convenient space. 

Cops Identify East Meadow Drowning Victim: Nassau County Police identified the man who drowned in an East Meadow pool July 16. According to cops, the deceased was identified as Gelber Orozco-Velasquez, 26, of Hempstead.

Nearby: Walmart Market Opens in Levittown: Long Island's first ever Walmart Neighborhood Market officially opened in July. The company held a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3335 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown to celebrate the opening of the store. The market is about one-third the size of a regular Walmart and offers a full grocery selection, prepared food, fresh baked goods, a self-serve deli and a bakery. Joseph Fontano, Communications Director at the Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW Union, said Walmart's arrival is a blight to the Levittown and Long Island community. 

Police: 3-Year-Old Injured in Two-Car Crash: A 3-year-old boy was taken to an area hospital after a two-car crash on Newbridge Road July 7, police said. The relative of the boy that was driving the car was issued a summons for failing to keep the child restrained and the driver of the other vehicle was also issued a summons, police said.
