'Barkfest' Coming to Eisenhower Dog Run

Pet costume contest and parade kicks off at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.

Long Island's largest pet costume contest and parade is coming to the Eisenhower Dog Run in East Meadow Oct. 27, Nassau County executive Ed Mangano announced.

The free event, dubbed "Nassau Barkfest," will take place Sunday, Oct. 27, between noon and 3:30 p.m.

“For many of us our pets are members of our family and this is a great way to enjoy a nice afternoon together at one of our newest dog parks,” Mangano said.

Pet Supplies Plus Long Island and Long Island’s K98.3 is sponsoring the event, which will be held rain or shine. Costume judging and prizes begin at 2 p.m. All pets must be on a leash. Rescue groups and animal friendly organizations will also be on site.

Parking for the event will be located at Field 7 by the Golf Course.
