#86- Get Your Clubs and Go Golfing at Eisenhower Park

There are plenty of golf courses for every level.

In an area where an abundance of outside activities is available within arm’s reach, golf beginners, fans and aficionados should all visit Eisenhower Park, because its golf spread targets every area of interest and skill.

Families will be happy to know that Eisenhower Park’s miniature golf has been named “Best of Long Island” by News 12 Long Island. Two 18-hole courses, named “Overlook” and “Mountainside,” are adorned with appropriate décor to make guests feel as though they are truly at one of those two delightful natural locales.

Advanced golfers, have no fear. Eisenhower Park is home to the Red, White and Blue courses, as well. All three courses provide 18 holes of exquisite golfing conditions. The Red course has seen more history than the vast majority of us have, as it was designed all the way back in 1914 by Devereux Emmet. PGA Championships have graced the park with their presence since 1926.

Consider purchasing the Leisure Pass, as admission to the golf courses is posted as $30 for residents with the pass and $47 without the pass for the 2011 season. Senior citizen residents are permitted to play with a Leisure Pass for $17. These rates are good during the week only. On weekends and holidays, they are $34, $52 and $34, respectively.

Perhaps you do not have the time for a full 18-hole round of golf. Consider doing a 9-hole round instead. Another option for individuals who do not have the time to play during the day are the Twilight and Super Twilight entrances. Twilight times change, depending upon the time of year; therefore, call ahead to check availability. Super Twilight discounts are available June 1 through Aug. 31, after 6:30 pm. A list of all applicable rates for the 2011 season can be found on the Nassau County website of Parks, Recreation and Museums.

Chances are, lugging around equipment all day long in the hot summer sun, or even the blissfully warm April and May rays, is not anyone’s idea of a perfectly crafted activity. Luckily, Eisenhower Park offers golf cart rentals for both the 18-hole and 9-hole experiences. Once again, rates are lower for those with a Leisure Pass, so seriously consider obtaining one this season!
