At the monthly East Meadow School District Board of Education Communications meeting on Feb. 17, school officials presented a number of students with Terrific Kids awards for the months of December, January and February. The Terrific Kids award is sponsored by East Meadow Kiwanis and meant to honor students who might not be recognized in other capacities.
East Meadow Superintendent Louis DeAngelo read the names as Board of Education President Brian O’Flaherty, Clarke Middle School Principal Stacy Breslin, Woodland Middle School Principal James Lethbridge, East Meadow Kiwanis First Vice President Mitchell Allen and Second Vice President Debbie Kirsh gave the children a certificate, bumper sticker and congratulatory hand shakes.
“Students nominated to received Terrific Kids awards every month are students who are recognized for their positive attitude, good character and responsible citizenship,” DeAngelo said. “In many ways, they are model citizens in our schools.”
Anywhere between one and three kids from sixth, seventh and eighth grade classes at the two middle schools are honored every month as Terrific Kids. After the names were announced and parents had a chance to take photos, all of the honorees and their families were invited to enjoy refreshments.
