13 Reasons Readers Love Living in East Meadow

The people, schools and community spirit are just some of the reasons Patch readers love East Meadow.

East Meadow Patch posed the following question to readers on its Facebook page: What makes the place you call home so special?

Here are 13 reasons readers love living in East Meadow:

Pam Losco Kimler: I grew up in EM. Met my hubby in EMHS senior year. We moved away for 2 years and decided to buy our house where we felt was a great community, good schools, neighborhood store-owned shops and restaurants and all together friendly, SAFE neighborhood. All 3 of our kids had my kindergarten teacher... and went to the same schools as I did. I did my volunteer give-back to the community by being fully active in PTA, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and bowling leagues. Made life-long friends because of all the above. Also, the location? Twenty minutes from the beach, five minutes to the Nassau Coliseum, two hours to Montauk and tranquility and just a 45 minute train ride to the city. What more can you ask for?

Becky Gillman Goldberg: EM has great access to nearly all of the highways - you can get almost anywhere in Nassau within 15 minutes. Then there's Eisenhower Park and the relatively low taxes compared to the surrounding hamlets.

Rhonda Levy: ok. great place to live been here since 1971. my kids r going to my school.

Joanna Camberdella: I just a nice town !!

Nancy Widman: I was born here, graduated school here, my kids graduated school here, and I'm still in East Meadow (and back in the same house!) ... need I say more?

Katie Rose: It's home now matter how far away the military moves me I always have a home in East Meadow.

Joanne Smith That's right Katie no matter where you are or where you have been East Meadow will always be your home!!

Eileen Frize Napolitano: I found East Meadow by accident after getting lost to the Roosevelt Field mall. Moved in 14 years ago. I have met so many great families. Barnum Woods elementary school was great from principal to outstanding teachers to fun and caring lunch aides. Both children are in the EMHS. and their success continues with variety of clubs. Athletics. And great education support. I am so glad I bought my home. Which also increased in value. We have a great community spirit here too!

Jodi Zukerman Luce: We have WONDERFUL neighbors, my children have met great friends, and are blossoming in their perspective schools.

Paulette German: The multi- cultural community of WTC High School is a microcausm of the way the world should be.

Douglas Wood: Small town feel. Location. Eisenhower Park. East Meadow Baseball/ Softball. Figarelli's Deli. Good schools. Great families. Town square, E.M. Chamber of Commerce. Our houses of Worship

June Denny: Don't forget La Novella, our favorite Italian restaurant.

Pat Trimboli: Easy Meadow is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Small town feel, wonderful people.
