Sacramone's Arrives in East Meadow
The restaurant known for it's Astoria location opened it's doors on Dec. 26.
When Domenico and Anthony Sacramone decided to open a new business in Astoria 23 years ago, they knew that it was not only about the food, but the experience as well.
"Once people taste our food and taste our pizza, it’s an experience that’s few and far between," Domenico Sacramone said.
Domenico went to school to be a programmer, while Anthony was the AVP for a bank, but neither felt that their lives were meant for those positions ... and thus, Sacramone's was born.
Now, it has arrived in East Meadow.
The brothers opened shop on Dec. 26 at 2366 Hempstead Turnpike, which is the former home of Puglia of Little Italy. A friend from Wantagh alerted the Sacramone's about the open location, which lead to their arrival on Long Island.
"It's the perfect spot," Domenico Sacramone said. "We've been looking to expand for a while."
The opening process took a bit longer than expected, but that's because the Sacramones were waiting for permits to go through the Town of Hempstead. They added a new room, and the coal oven was built from scratch. The inside of the oven is made with lava bricks from Mount Vesuvius.
Sacramone says that he and his brother pride themselves on their quality of food. The tomato sauce is homemade, and the tomatoes are pureed in-house as well. Once a year, the Sacramones even go to a food show and taste an array of tomatoes imported from Italy. Once they find the one that fits their taste, they buy in bulk.
"We’re going to give people a product they haven’t tasted," Domenico Sacramone said. "I think people will support us."
Every dish is made to order. While the pizza and homemade pastas are the signatures of the restaurant, Sacramones also sports an array of salads, chicken, veal, ravioli and more. The pizza crust is homemade as well, and Sacramone's makes use of Virgin Olive Oil to spice it up.
The first few weeks have been exactly what the Sacramones hoped for. After integrating the computer system, they are now ready to settle in. Sacramone said he wants people to feel comfortable in the new establishment
"I want formal, good service, but I also want people to feel relaxed," he said. "Our waiters and bus boys will not be on your back constantly."
Sacramone's is open on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 11 p.m., and the restaurant is open from noon until midnight on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Try this restaurant immediately. The secret is in the sauce and you haven't tasted anything like it, Long Island. The Sacramone's know how to cook and serve Italian food. Period. Exclamation point. It's good eats.

Wendy, we agree, the secret is in the sauce but the secret is also in our Mama's recipes. Our Matriarch, Maddalena Sacramone, 87-years young & still cooking in our kitchen(s) (Astoria AND East Meadow) on most days. She's our inspiration & we owe everything to her. WE LOVE YOU, MAMA!!!

Their Veal Marsala was amazing (tender, succulent and sweet) and really worth the price. It reminded of my old neighborhood growing up in Brooklyn. Give it a try!

...The opening process took a bit longer than expected, but that's because the Sacramones were waiting for permits to go through the Town of Hempstead....
This is why the Town needs to either be dissolved or find a better way to stream line the zonning process. Think how much money this business owner has lost because of the Town. Even worse, think how many business avoid coming to the town because of this lag.

First, we're huge Yankee fans. Second, despite some blips along the way, we're very happy in our new home of East Meadow / Hempstead Township. Third, we hope you try the restaurant really soon because that's the take-away in all of this: we're here and we're ready to serve the community...one meal at a time!

I was astounded how delicious, fresh and authentic the food was at Sacramone's. Nonna never made food any better. I can't wait to go back. Hmmm think I'll go for some eggplant next time. Drinks were delicious too and service was impeccable!

Really good Italian food the way it should be. It's getting harder to find good traditional Italian-American food I remember having as a kid growing up in New York. Sacramone's and Sac's Place in Astoria know how to do it.

Customer service is extremely important; thanks for bringing it up, Bill. I often think restaurant owners forget that ultimately, this is an industry where owner-customer interaction is an integral part of the process. If the food is delicious but customers don't feel comfortable or welcome, we've missed the point. Customer Service is a number one priority at Sacramone's.

I am both biased and not biased on this one: full disclosure: I'm married to Domenico and, well, inclined to support what he does. However, I regularly at at his Astoria restaurant for 6 years before we started dating, so I'd formed my opinion on their food completely objectively. And I can tell you - it is the best Italian food. And now I see firsthand how hard they work to make sure they have the best ingredients for their food, and how dedicated they are to their customers. This article really described what makes them different. I hope people check out the new place. They'll get hooked like I was.

I didn't think it was possible to replicate the amazing food (and don't forget the pizza) I have been eating for the past 12 years. I have always loved Sacs and have now found a new home and a reason to go to Long Island more regularly.
