Police Arrest 11 People at NUMC After Small Riot

Nearly a dozen people were arrested at the Nassau University Medical Center early Saturday morning.

According to detectives, Third Precinct police officers responded to the Nassau University Medical Center for a large disorderly crowd around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The group attempted to enter the emergency room and acted aggressively towards hospital staff, police said. Several requests by police and hospital personnel to disperse were ignored. The crowd then began threatening police. Furthers police units from numerous precincts were required to respond.

According to police, while attempting to arrest Kadeen McDonald, 21, of Hempstead, the defendant refused to be handcuffed and struck a police officer, fracturing the officer’s hand. The defendant was eventually placed into custody. The officer was treated and released.

Also arrested as a result of the disturbance were Timothy Fenner, 21, of Uniondale, Genevieve Mamouzette, 22, of Hempstead, Jason Fraser, 20, of Freeport, Derick Hernandez, 20, of Roosevelt, Andre Warsop, 23, of Hempstead, Marcus Spooner, 21, of Hempstead, Jeremy Pryor, 20, of Hempstead, Terrance Pinkard, 21, of Far Rockaway, Gary Mosley, 19, of Roosevelt and Celena Lewis, 24, of Jamaica.

Defendants Fenner, Fraser, Hernandez, Warsop, McDonald, Spooner, Pryor, Mosley and Pinkard were all charged with Riot in the first degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree and Resisting Arrest. Defendant McDonald was also charged with Assault in the second degree.

Defendant Mamouzette was charged with Riot in the first degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree.

Defendants Fraser, Hernandez, Warsop, Spooner, Pryor and Pinkard were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.

Defendants Lewis, Fenner, McDonald, Mosley and Mamouzette will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday, June 12.
