Meadow Crossing Storefronts Coming Soon

The town of East Meadow may gain three new stores in the next few months as "Meadow Crossing" project develops.

Bulldozers cleared the small lot on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Newbridge Road last week to make room for an upcoming shopping center which will be called “Meadow Crossing”.

The construction process in December when an application to “remove all existing storage tanks” was submitted to the town, according to Hempstead Town Press Secretary Susan Trenkle-Pokalsky.

Where an Exxon gas station once stood, the property at 2464 Hempstead Turnpike is now merely a lot filled with barren dirt. However, a sign on the fence offers a colorized model-drawing, which promises future buildings. The sign states that the new development can be divided into multiple storefronts, which will be leased by In Line Realty.

Although a representative from the leasing agency stated that he was not able to talk to the press, the designer, Peter Elkin of Elkin Architecture PC, spoke with Patch. He stated that the space has been bought by David Magier, and will open to the public soon.

“I would say in about six months,” Elkin said. “We’re in for permits now—then it takes six months to build it.”

The designer said he believes that the new stores, which have not yet been announced, will increase business in East Meadow.

“It’s a neighborhood shopping center with 4,400 feet and probably up to three stores,” Elkin added.
