East Meadow's Best: Chicken Wings

Wings are more than appetizers; they are bone-sucking goodness. Which joint makes the best? Time to weigh in.

Do you like them crispy or naked? Hot and spicy or lip-smacking sweet? We’re talking wings, of course.

Chicken wings are a staple in any culture and they have a place on the menus of nearly every restaurant, pub or take-out joint in East Meadow.

Time to weigh in. East Meadow Patch is looking to unearth the best wings in town. East Meadow’s Best is a new weekly feature where we’re asking you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s wings – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Wednesday we’ll narrow the field, taking your recommendations to put to a vote in the ultimate food-fight poll.

Friday afternoon we’ll announce a winner. Wing a ding ding!

Here are the nominees for East Meadow’s best wings:

Hooters

Wing Zone

Kentucky Fried Chicken

Benchwarmers

Now tell us who has the best wings in East Meadow. Do it in comments below.

Since we are on the topic of wings:

Most places unfortunately choose to fry the little tiny wing rather than bake.
When fried it shrivels down to nothing and then the establishment pours a dressing of your choice on it.
Messy, messy messy...

Baked wings are meatier, and usually come in the standard traditional, plain, mild, or hot.
(you should be able to ask for a dipping dressing of choice)

When fried the flavor is not baked in it is poured on as if dipping in.
Baked wings are not dripping with some dressing selection that just gets poured on top..
Baked wings are the way to go.

Does anyone know which of the listed establishments bake vs fry?

Just a general opinion and comment...

If you eat at Potters take a look around you. The place is filthy in particular the lamps in the booths over your food and the booster seats for children. It's pretty darn awful.

I think the management at Potter's is counting on people having a few beers before they eat. Then customers will think the fuzziness they see is due to their drunken vision and not the cobwebs and dust balls all around them.

Potters is cozy & clean. Its been some time since you were there. The lamps are bright & clean & booster seats get dirty, I'm sure if you asked it would have been washed right away.

I'm sorry JJ but that just isn't the case. Even if they could have washed the boosters it doesn't excuse the fact that our host had to go through their stock of boosters to find the least disgusting one. He literally put three back without me even asking. It wasn't even a matter of some food that spilled, it was a matter of caked on gray grime.
