Crime Report: Jail Assault, Grand Larceny and Robbery Arrests
The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A Freeport man was arrested for assaulting a Nassau County Correctional Center officer on Jan. 27 after he allegedly refused to turn his cell phone off at the front gate.
According to police, Dominic Cowan, 21, was at the East Meadow jail to post bond for an inmate. When the officer asked Cowan to shut off his phone, he became agitated. Police said he then mouthed off to officers and then refused to post the inmate's bond. To find out more about the physical altercation, click here.

- Sometime between 8 p.m. on Jan. 25 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 26, money was stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked on East Earl Place in East Meadow.
- On Jan. 28, after 10 a.m., a chimney cap was stolen off of a home on Cypress Avenue.
- Also on Jan. 28, after 10 a.m., a chimney cap was stolen from a home on Woods Avenue.
- Sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 and 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 28, a lattice was damaged at a residence on Caspar Avenue.
